What are we all about?

United Chicks Association (UCA) is led by three remarkable women: Taryn-Lee Potgieter (Founder), Vanessa Lewis (Director), and Tamelyn Louw (Director). Taryn’s vision and passion for female empowerment sparked the creation of UCA, a platform to uplift and support women entrepreneurs, small business owners, and women-led businesses.

Across the globe, countless women are hustling to showcase their talents – launching new businesses, growing existing ones, and striving for success. However, they often find themselves competing against global brands, influencers, and celebrities with massive followings and financial resources.

We’ve all seen it: two or three women in our circles trying to get their nail or lash business off the ground, or others achieving success but struggling to make ends meet. There are also incredibly talented women whose skills surpass even the most high-profile CEOs, but they go unnoticed due to the lack of formal qualifications or a degree.

At UCA, we believe that if each of us supported just one woman’s business, we could create a ripple effect that empowers women-led businesses everywhere. Through our collective efforts—whether through membership fees, donations, or volunteering—we can fund the education, tools, and training needed to unlock the potential of women who deserve to be seen and heard.

This isn’t just a vision; it’s something we can do today. The power is in our hands.

 Building UCA has come with its fair share of challenges. Like many women entrepreneurs, we’ve faced limited funding, skepticism, and the constant juggle of multiple roles. What’s disheartening is that, despite the widespread call for women to support one another, we often encounter indifference when reaching out for support—whether it’s in the form of membership or donations. Still, our unwavering commitment to uplifting other women, particularly those who stand with us, is what keeps us pushing forward.

 Although we officially launched our incredible organization in August 2024, by the end of the year, we had already grown to 11 members and successfully run two fundraising campaigns. We also established a strong partnership with Phoenix Fitness, with whom we successfully hosted a Fitness Challenge. In October, we held our first of many bi-annual Business Growth Challenges, marking two impactful campaigns aimed at empowering women both physically and with the business skills needed to grow their ventures.

As we continue to grow, our goal is to launch our first educational sponsorship by the end of 2025. We also aim to double our membership base each year, ensuring that we provide visible and tangible support to both current and aspiring women entrepreneurs and business owners, helping them thrive and succeed.
